How To: Picture Flip Book

Image
Yesterday , I showed you what I gave the mother's in our lives for Mother's Day .  I also mentioned that these would be great for other events.  Such as, a graduation for high school or college (with a pictures of your student from Kindergarten through Senior year, either high school senior or college senior) paired with the book by Dr. Seuss 'Oh, the Places You'll Go', or even for Father's Day. Supplies: 2 -- 12x12 card stock, coordinating colors 1-2 (your choice)-- of designer print pages, coordinating Photos Embellishments of your choice Photos Ribbon Glue or self adhesive (my favorite type to use) Cutter/paper trimmer **All my paper, stamps and ink supplies were the product of Stampin Up! 1) I started with two (2) 12x12 pages. 2) I cut both of them in half, so they are now four (4) 6 x 12 pages. 3) I scored one (1) page at 3 inches from the left and right side, and then again about 3 1/4 from both the left and the right.  This will creat

Flip Book Picture Parade

I have been wanting to share with all of you what I made the mom's for Mother's Day this year, but I couldn't until they had all received their books, and now I'm waaay overdue, since my mother who lives out of state, received hers nearly 2 weeks ago.    I had to wait for her to receive hers, because does read this blog.  :)  I have to say, it was a huge hit.    I paired this with another book.  One that acted as a card, because it said everything that I had wanted to say and was thankful for as a mother.  Have you read this book? The inside of the flip book was filled with pictures of the kids, primarily, and a few of us as a couple, and a family.      Completely opened up.  It's pretty big and there were about 17 areas to put pictures.  I wanted to write out a few quotes, so I didn't put pictures on every single slip. The inside cover was a picture of The Mister and his Momma and I with my Momma.   I will be back tomorrow with

Meal Plan Monday 5/27/2013

I'm baaaack with my Meal Plan Monday's.  I took a short hiatus and quickly found that it just doesn’t work for me to not have a menu planned out.    So, even if these don’t help you get through the weekday “What’s for Dinner?” crunch, these are for me too. This week is filled with slow cooker meals.   I’m currently studying for a major test for my work.   So I need simplicity right now.    I need to come home and have dinner completely ready so that I can get maximum study time in my evenings.   It’s the least I can do for my family, as I will be non-existent in their eyes, until my test date. **All meals this week, will also be paired with a nice garden salad Monday:   Memorial Day BBQ at a friend’s house.   I am bringing this side dish.   It’s a hit with my hubby and kids.  Crab and Pea Salad Tuesday: Slow Cooker: Pork Loin with homemade canned applesauce Wednesday:   Slow Cooker: Salisbury Steak with mashed garlic potatoes Thursday :   Slow Cooker: Tortellini

Happy Memorial Day!

As I am sitting here at the computer, with my peanut butter toast, and a cup of tea; I can't help but reflect on WHY I have the day off from work?  WHY I get to enjoy a day with my family?  When there are all ranks of the military serving our country, away from their families, without a day off.   It's because of these men and women of our past, present and future, that I do get to do these things.  I can't express my heartfelt ' thank you' nearly enough.    (Source)   If you/your family is suffering the loss of a service member paying the ultimate sacrifice, my heart is heavy for you today. If you/your family is supporting a service member who is putting it all on the line, I worry with you every day. Selfless courage is what made our nation great. I'll never forget those who have and who currently embody this incredibly honorable trait. I would like to share this poem, that an 87 year old, mentor/friend, of one of my friend's wrote. When Life Gives You Lemons...

**My heart is breaking for those affected in Oklahoma right now, after that massive tornado from yesterday.  This is a terrible, horrific tragedy.  I can't even comprehend the suffering that these people are enduring right now.  I pray that God will comfort the people in Oklahoma. They need all our love and support now. If you want to help out, you can donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, , or go to your local blood bank to donate blood.   ... You make lemonade!! Do you know what Georgia Romeo shoes are?   Well, let me tell you.   They are ONLY Bubba's favoritest shoes.   Ever!   We bought these shoes for him for Christmas....2011.   He has worn these shoes...every...single...day. Any particular outfits?  Nope.  Any particular events?  Nope. Basketball shorts?   Check! Swim Trunks?   Check! Weddings?   Check! Pajamas?   Check! So, when we were camping this last weekend, I couldn't help but notice that after an hour of playing outsid

The Color Run...Portland

Image
I am really excited about participating in my first Color Run .  I am forming, what was originally a Mother-Daughter team, has now turned into a Mother-Child team.   I couldn't be more thrilled about it either!  I have wanted to do this run for a few years now and have finally taken the time to build a team.  Seriously, doesn't this just look like a blast?  I can't wait for our team to form and to run together.  We are going to have a blast! If you are local or will be in the Portland area, we would love for you and your child to join us! The Color Run will be starting at 9:00am on September 7th, 2013 at Portland International Raceway (PIR) Have you participated in The Color Run before?  Was it a blast?   What was your favorite part about it?

Our, Not So Secret, Garden

Image
Hello Spring!  Hello Sunshine!!  Hello Produce!!!   What?!  Yup, we are going to grow our own produce this year.  We go through so much of it, so why not?!  We used to have a cute little garden in the backyard, when the kids were little, very little.  However, the trampoline for the kids took over that spot for a little while.  Which has been a great source of fun for the kids...and adults, but we need our garden space back. While our backyard is not large, we had to do a little rearranging, some woodworking, and a partial backyard make over, and we now have a garden spot!   I am beyond thrilled!  (A garden box, how-to, will be coming in a later post) I am so excited to have fresh tomatoes, fresh strawberries, and fresh cucumbers. Actually we are going to plant a ton more and even, The Mister, is getting on the garden and canning this year.  He makes a mean batch of dill pickles and bread & butter pickles!  I can't wait! What we will be growing: B

Sisters...

Image
Sisters...a tricky relationship.  One minute your sister is your best friend in the whole wide world, the next minute you are screaming at each other because she is wearing your favorite shirt. The two sisters that live in our house, our darling daughters, are going through a tough time right now.  They are at each other's throats, they are irritated at the sound of each other's breathing, much less everything else.  I know they are the best of friends, which is why they are the way they are right now. This last weekend we did our annual Mother-Daughter beach trip, with 4 other mommies and 5 other girls, ages from 4-15.  We love this trip every year.   We seriously look forward to it so much every year.  It is so much fun.  Out of all the pictures that were taken on this trip, this is my favorite picture.  If a picture could talk...this one would say 1,000 words. I love these girls so much!
